Adult Coaching Course

Saturday 04 August 2007

The fifth Adult Coaching Course organised by Chelmsford Table Tennis Club took place from 23 April for 10 weeks at the Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre. The Coaching took place on 8 tables and attendees got a real baptism of fire as they got the opportunity to practice their shots against our brand new robot.

Of the 13 delegates who attended the ten week course, the standard ranged from interested parent (wanting to take on their kids) to competent Division 2. The Coaching programme was developed and led by our Head Coach Neil Gooday and assissted by Club Coaches Adrian Pitt, Aaron Fennell and Ryan Pitt.

It was really great to see the development of different elements of their games over the course of the ten weeks - key highlights for me were: -

Greg's forehand drive. A bit more turn of the shoulder will see it improve even further, Great backhand already.

Mike's block. Already a great allround attacking game, with now better ability to control when being attacked with heavy topspin.

Dave's forehand loop. A bit rusty at the start, but now the shoulder and legs have joined the stroke there'll be no stopping him.

Mike's attacking play. A definite shift in game plan and one that he will need to continue to persevere with to see the full benefits.

Well done to all who attended, we will be running again next year and look forward to seeing you all.
