Open Family Day

Wednesday 12 August 2007

On Sunday August 12, the Club supported Chelmsford Sport and Athletic Centre's Open Day. with an early start (for some of us - Ryan had to be reminded to get out of bed!!) at 9am to set up for the day.

Within the main hall, we had 4 four tables and were sandwiched nicely between the come and try sessions for dancing (always nice to have a bit of music when playing ping pong) and the trampolines. Three tables we left for open play and one had the robot on. When the doors opened we were inundated and instantly all four tables were fully occupied and the queue for the robot had started. With three of us in attendance (Ryan, Neil and Adrian) we took it in turns to supervise the robot. I have never seen so many people queuing up to hit a ball (almost like the January sales). In the end we had to give the poor robot a rest otherwise it would never had lasted the 6 hours.

The 6 hours flew by and it was really rewarding to see so many people come and give it a go. Don't think we spotted the next world champion but you never know what interest the session sparked and what will develop.

Below are some of the pictures from the days events.
