London 2012 Olympics - Open Weekend

Friday 22 July 2011

Chelmsford Table Tennis Club was asked by the 2012 Essex Legacy Team to organise a "Challenge the Champion" table tennis event in the Chelmsford Library as part of the London 2012 Olympics - Open Weekend on Friday 22 July 2011. The event was organised by Ryan Pitt and assited by Duncan Taylor (Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League - Division 1 Player) and Stephen Gertsen (ETTA Eastern Regional Coach). Stephen recently participated in the Commonwealth Games 2010 in India representing Wales.

As last year, Essex County Council members of staff and members of the public were challenged to beat one of the three regular table tennis players (the "Champions"), who were undefeated last year. Although there were a few tight games this year, the "Champions" maintained their unbeaten record. It was great to see some new faces trying table tennis for the first time as well as some familiar faces attempting to defeat the "Champions".

The Club would like to thank Duncan Taylor and Stephen Gertsen for helping out throughout the day, which without them would not have been such a success. Please see below some pictures from the day.
